In the Office

I was recently contacted by Etsy about possibly being the subject of an editorial piece. I had to answer questions about my products and process and also take some photos.

This is one of those photos of me working hard at my desk, which ended up being used in the About page of my Etsy shop. I love it when the sun streams in through the window during summer mornings.

In other news, Peppermint magazine currently has a giveaway in their newsletter (Mint Mail), and you can win a Mushroom Harvest Haversack as one of the prizes. Enter here. ♦

Happy Hour - Snapshots

A roadtrip in regional Victoria (and just over the border).

Earlier this week we went on a little road-trip visiting Port Fairy, Penola and Dunkeld with a few little stops at local wineries along the way.

Over the past few weeks I've been watching my workload slowly grow, with the lead up to Christmas. I've recently been approached by a couple of magazines about my Harvest Haversacks possibly being featured, which is so exciting! I am also going to be at a few upcoming design markets selling my bags direct to consumers. With this extra publicity and attending the large markets, I'm predicting some super busy times over the next few months.

So, I grabbed the opportunity before things got too gnarly, to runaway for a few days to enjoy the wide open road, a few glasses of wine, and some time with my boyfriend.

1. The Royal Mail Hotel: We enjoyed the degustation menu for dinner; 9 courses with accompanying wines. Oh, so delicious!

2. Clouds covering the top of Mt Sturgeon

3, 4 & 5. Beautiful bright yellow canola fields near Lismore on our way to a few wineries in Penola.

6. We headed to the beach in Port Fairy to try and spot the whales whom were swimming past, but we unfortunately couldn't see them that day.

7. It was such a gorgeous sunny day we sat on the rocks and had a cold beer whilst watching a few surfers. ♦

Daily drawings

In my ongoing crusade to be more organised, and make sure I remember to step back and enjoy this path I'm currently on, I've decided to set aside some time everyday to do one drawing (or more if I get carried away, but at least one, everyday).

You can see my daily drawings on my instagram (@harvesthaversack), as well as once a month I will make a few of my drawings pretty and colourful, and post them on this blog! I only started a week ago, and have been very much enjoying myself so far, here are a couple to start off with...

1. A cup of hot chocolate with melting marshmallows

2. Orange chiffon cupcake (I made these today and they are so yum!)

3. My Casio calculator

4. Red nail polish and nail polish remover ♦

In the Office

Apples are one of my favourite things to eat. They're crunchy, juicy and oh, so refreshing and bursting with flavour. What's not to love?

I have been busy working on new designs for a brand new range of Harvest Haversacks (you may've seen my pic here). I also attended another screenprinting class, where I tried out my new 'apples' design on some tote bags. I even had a go at printing foil. So shimmery!

I'm super pleased with how they came out and think the design will look amazing on my Haversacks. They will be available in the shop in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out!!

The Psychopath Test

So far so good, two posts in two weeks! Well done, me! This week is going to be a post on a book, film, song or the like, which I have read, watched or listened to or has somehow inspired me recently.

I was browsing my local secondhand bookshop a few weeks ago, and spotted Jon Ronson's book The Psychopath Test. Around it's release, I'd heard an interview with Ronson speaking about this book and it sounded like a really interesting topic, so I purchased it. The bookshop owner said that he'd put it up on the shelf to sell only 20 minutes earlier. Perfect timing! It's a fascinating book, and I highly recommend grabbing yourself a copy should you also find it in your local secondhand bookshop. The characters ('psychopaths') he meets and interviews are intense, and Ronson's storytelling is wonderful. The above video is a TEDTalk (I am addicted to TED.com!) of Ronson telling how and why he wrote the book and a few things he learnt about himself along the way, which can be found in more detail in The Psychopath Test.

Inspiration Mood Board

Well, this is it! There are (hopefully) going to be some changes around here. Starting... now!

From today, I am whole heartily going to start doing regular blog posts. Well, it definitely won't be too regular, as blogging is obviously not my forté! It will be slightly more manageable, once a week. In order to keep this promise to myself, I have devised a plan.

The plan is, depending on which week of the month it is, you can expect to see a particular style of post. For example, this week (Week 3) will be my Inspiration Mood Board! So, the 3rd week of each month, I will post a new inspiration mood board. Week 4 might be, for example, Behind The Scenes type post, showing images of a sneak peek look at a new Harvest Haversack product. (I haven't worked out the different categories yet.)

So, first off the ranks is the Inspiration Mood Board - it is a collection, which has a connecting theme,  of things that has been inspiring and influencing me this month. Such as; a certain colour, pattern, texture, a place, food, an era, a film, a culture... anything I find on my mood board!

This month's mood board is a beautiful colour combo of Aqua and Pink. Hopefully, very (very!) soon I will be launching my brand new website. Exciting! There are just a few more things to finish on it. Since I've been focusing a lot of my time on my site this month, I've found tones of aqua and pink currently all over my work and I am totally loving it!

1 - Beach umbrella iPad case by Elle Moss
2 - Locomotor by Kirra Jamison
3 - Summer shoes by Kuwaii
4 - Travel nail polish set by Kate Spade / Poppy King
5 - My designer / freelancer business cards which match the colours of my brand new website!
6 - Australian Galahs

Also, you can follow me on Pinterest, which is basically a HUGE inspiration mood board!
